can send data but not receive

I am using your code with a nodemcu module .The tcp master is a simulator and a the rtu slave is a simulator . the tcp master sends a funcion 3 message and the rtu slave will receive and respond , but my tcp master never receives the reply from the rtu slave . The rx and tx for the softwareserial is working , I have tested this with softwareSerial example .

I have it working now , i had to edit "else if (micros() < _timeToReceive) {" to "else if (micros() > _timeToReceive) {" . timeout on no response is still working .
