If there is a save error dialog, it is not possible to navigate away to home page

When clicking on the octopus to navigate away to the landing page this dialog shows up:

However, if saving notebook fails beforehand and displays a different dialog:

...and the "Would you like to" dialog does not show up until the former is closed.

This makes it seems as if the octopus icon is broken.

Question: should we discard the error dialog (if any) when user clicks on the octopus?

I would lean toward "Yes", personally. I think the user's intent when clicking on the octopus is known to us, especially if they are familiar with the Jupyter Everywhere interface (for example, after a few days of using it) and have clicked on the octopus icon before. This way, they can click on "Don't save the notebook" and leave right away. Even if they are not familiar, they'll see the leave confirmation dialogue, and can click on the X button to come back to the notebook page if they want to work with their notebook further, or gain understanding of how they can leave the page.

I think this is a very good point @krassowski, and ignoring it might make the most sense.
