Maybe you haven't seen a (kind of) similar project for python:

It starts from a reverse problem: YAML is too complex, so they created a spec with the 'human readable' parts. It may be interesting to take a peek at their specs, which is kind of similar to YAML-Tiny, and interop is always a good thing. :-)
