no preview in the preview section of the explorer

Works so far in the explorer itself, but when you have preview enabled on explorer it do not show anything.

I believe the preview is a totally different thing than the thumbnails, I can look into how hard it would be to add that too though.

Hm do you also have powertoys installed? Because it has a separate preview pane SVG handler that might be doing that. I don't think mine should be able to make previews unless I'm mistaken. That can be enabled while keeping the powertoys svg thumbnail handler disabled to get the best of both worlds.

Because the powertoys handler will be more accurate, so might make sense to just use that anyway just for the preview pane, since the preview pane is larger and presumably you're taking a closer look at the image with it.

PowerToys

Yes, I have it installed, but it is turned off. Looking at the rendered image, I still think it is coming from your extension. The rendered SVGs from PowerToys have a white background (see 6.svg in my first reply).

Preview Pane vs. Details Pane

Also note: PowerToys allows to separately enable the "Preview Pane", not the "Details Pane". These are two separeate things! The "Preview Pane" can display rich data, e.g. Markdown file content previews, the "Details Pane" cannot.

Huh interesting you're right. I just tested it in the windows sandbox and it does show in the preview pane just with my extension 🤔

@blackgis Maybe try restarting explorer or the computer. Or if you have do powertoys preview pane extension enabled for SVGs, maybe try disabling it.

Also, maybe clearing the Windows thumbnail cache might help. However, I don't know if the preview/detail images are affected by this cache (thumbcache_xxx.db), stored somewhere else, or even loaded on demand without any cache.

@ThioJoe seems like that some svg work, some not. unfortunatelly i grabed a not working one (NOAA). Generally a lot of svg work, i just had bad luck grapping one that is not willing to work. I attached it, maybe you can figure out where the issue is, i wasn't able to spot the issue, it is also valid according to some online tools.

Hm I just tested in the sandbox and both of those seem to show in the in the preview and details panes. I'm on Windows 24H2 26100.4946, not sure if it makes a difference.
