Documentation: Add clearer onboarding steps for first-time contributors #677

Description

Description of the bug

The onboarding instructions in start-here are helpful but could be more detailed for absolute beginners. New contributors may find it confusing to set up their first pull request without additional guidance.

Proposed Enhancements

  • Add a step-by-step guide (with screenshots) on how to fork the repo, clone locally, and create a branch.
  • Include a small demo contribution example (e.g., adding yourself to a contributors.md file).
  • Link to Git/GitHub basics for those new to open-source.
  • Add a "common mistakes" section to reduce repetitive questions.

Benefits

  • Smooth onboarding for first-time contributors.
  • Reduced friction and repetitive queries for maintainers.
  • Encourages more community participation.

I’d be happy to take this up and submit a PR if approved ✅.
