Back button doesn't exit the app

Expected behavior

Pressing the back button twice, if not once, should exit the app.

Actual behavior

Pressing the back button only pops up the present screen again and again and doesn't exit the app. App can only be exited by pressing the home button and the clearing it from recents. I've shown a gif below which will give you the idea of it.

How to reproduce

Open the app and just press the back button to exit. You won't be able to do so unless you press home key (or recents key).

• App: Myownnotes v2.0
• Operating system: Android Nought.
• Device: Motorola Moto g5 plus.

I get this error on Android 9 as well.
