Strange, I have been having difficulty getting bricks.js to work as well. Seemingly randomly it would work from time to time, but generally not. Upon seeing this issue I tried to resize and sure enough it worked.

I am using the code from bricks.js/test/manual.html as a starting point, but have copied the contents of dist/bricks.js to my server. Clearly the issue must be with me as this manual.html example works, but when I attempt to incorporate the code into my site (changing the container name) the library exhibits the above behavior.

The only clue I can detect is that the container width set by bricks.js is wildly off from what I'm setting in my CSS. For example, in CSS I have .container {width: 1200px} and in devtools I see element {width: 3480px}.

I'm happy to provide any info to help debug. I'm guessing it's some benign oversight (on my part). Grateful for any assistance please.

I've see the only work after resizing happen as well and I needed to make sure the packed elements had heights and widths.

It seems that the problem occurs if the bricks don't have a rounded height. So we don't need to set the height of the element and it can be dynamic as long as it is not decimal (515px is ok, 515.25px is not).

I opened a PR (#59) to fix the issue and allow decimal heights.

For those who're still strugling, wrong height might be caused by images. If you do have images, call pack after the images have been loaded. You can make use of https://imagesloaded.desandro.com/
