Is it possible to open the url on hover with a shortcut?

like hover + double left-Shift

Although I don't personally like this approach, I can see why it can be found useful.
It is also reminiscent of the built-in Microsoft Edge feature which allows to open any image in a preview window by hovering it and double pressing the Ctrl key.

I will consider adding it to the extension in future updates.

On second thought, I'm not sure we should add this feature, as it doesn't offer any additional utility compared to the existing "Shift + Left Click" shortcut. We probably shouldn't clutter the extension with too many similar features, in order to keep it minimal and easy to configure.

What reasons could you think of to prefer the "double shift + hover" shortcut over the existing "shift + left click"? Could you provide some situations or usage scenarios in which using "double shift + hover" shortcut would be more practical or handy?

Thank you for your attention. I believe there are two advantages:

1. Double-clicking Shift or Ctrl after hovering is very natural and does not require the brain to control the left and right hands separately.
2. The most direct advantage is that when using a laptop with one hand, I can hover the pointer over the URL with the touchpad and double-click Shift to open it in a pop-up window.

I'm not sure majority of users will find it intuitive, because as far as I'm aware of, "double shift + left click" shortcut is not used anywhere else outside of Edge, neither in other browsers nor in Windows/Linux/MacOS system-wide... However, the laptop touchpad use case you mentioned appears quite reasonable — I can imagine that existing "drag-and-drop" feature, oriented specifically for one-hand usage, could be hard to perform on a touchpad.

What bothers me though, is that Edge not only provides such shortcut for viewing images, but also provides a simple visual feedback in the form of small "camera" icon in top right corner of every hovered image. A visual indication like this might be important for hover-based gestures, and without such an indication the gesture might not feel as good.

Hmm, interestingly enough, it seems that this extension was originally heavily based on mine. However, the Github page of this extension doesn't mention that, although it previously used to.

Given that, I could not recommend using this extension, because, despite it represents itself as open source (when anybody can review the code), and for a long time it used to do so, currently it is not ‑- at some point developer decided to not publish the source code. It might be dangerous with extensions like these, coming from relatively new developers, and which have access to every page you visit, including banking sites.
