Changing the toast background color

I have tried changing the root css files in the ReactToastify.css
but nothing changes.

I have changed the dark theme color to

--toastify-color-dark: #6f6f6f;

to a lighter black color which is there after used in toast-theme--dark (Dark theme)

Even after this, the toast background doesn't change.

Can someone help me identify what should I do and where I am doing anything wrong?
