configure: syntax error near unexpected token

Currtently the build configuration is broken.
The configure skript fails checking header files.
First error message is:
checking for ANSI C header files... (cached) yes ./configure: line 6160: syntax error near unexpected token 'stdlib.h' ./configure: line 6160: stdlib.h

I suppose the bug was introduced in commit

Can you please provide the full command line used when running configure and a full config.log for that run?

Note that you might need to run ./autogen.sh before ./configure.

That's strange. Your config.log says it was run for htop version 3.2.1, when a build from the main branch should yield 3.5.0-dev.

Are you sure you are working on a clean clone from the repo?

Also, according to your config.log it can't locate ncurses headers.

@seidler Did you do a git bisect and ensure the commit causing the regression is 95a1ebe you mentioned?

I found one clue that might have caused your problem, but I can't tell for sure yet. Your Autoconf version is 2.69 (a little bit old), so it could be due to the older implementation of the AC_CHECK_HEADERS macro. Anyway, I have to confirm which commit caused the regression first.

@Explorer09 Yes, I used git bisect to find the version

@Explorer09 I have just tried the patch above. It seem to change the AC_CHECK_HEADERS macro call. Also the AC_CHECK_FUNCS needs to escape the newlines.
As a work around I use the this patch:
