Consideration of using Kerberos for an embedded LAN based application

I've got agent running with my rpi camera streaming rtsp via mediamtx sidecar. This is pretty cool what agent can do. My ultimate goal is to manage 5-10 cameras on a fishing vessel that may or may not be on the Internet. The system manages a grid of cameras and their recordings as well as detection models and remote activation of the cameras (some of them underwater).

Questions:

1. Can hub be run in a lan based app?
2. I like Frigate's grid. Currently I can provide camera command/control via FastAPI and webrtc from the pi. The Frigate grid looks more straightforward for me to provide the hub functionality. but, I like how you guys have thought through the scale questions. I don't need more than a half dozen cameras. But, its an embedded product across multiple installs so the distro and recording replication to the cloud is interesting to me.
3. I had trouble getting agent to resolve the lan address (ie. mypi.local or mypi). I had to use IP addresses. I'm hoping to use the MDNS capability that adds _1 to my hostname as the way to discover multiple cameras by arp'ing my unique hostname with a numeric ending. So, adding fixed IPs sort of complicates my setup. Maybe I need to rethink that?
