Getting Mongo::Error::SessionNotMaterialized when trying to run tests on this repo

So I clone mongodb/mongoid. Run bundle install.
I spin a local mongodb on the localhost with the default port.
Then try to run one of the tests like bundle exec rspec test.rb and I get this:

Mongo::Error::SessionNotMaterialized:
  The session was not materialized and cannot be used. Use start_session or with_session in order to start a session that will be materialized.

@jeffsaremi, server sessions are only available in replica sets or sharded clusters. If you're testing locally you could spin up a single node replica set (ex: mongod --dbpath data --replSet rs0), connect to it via the mongosh shell and run rs.initate() to initialize the set then run the tests ... but this shouldn't be necessary.

I tried just starting a mongod in standalone mode and running the full suite with rake and didn't get any errors. Can you share the exact commands you ran to get this output? I'm not sure what test.rb refers to in this case.

I did these steps:

The spec/support/session_registry.rb helper was removed in 3f67ea4.

Just to rule that out can you run the following and try one more time:

git submodule init
git submodule update

I had done those steps. Just to let you know i'm using tag v7.0.13 if that changes anything
