How to clear all options for a file?

The manual is unclear to me on this. MPV seems to save and remember some settings on a per-file basis, is there a way to disable this functionality entirely or at least reset everything for the file currently being played?

This section seems like it should cover it, it says something about -clr but I don't understand how to actually use this -clr option.

A web search only turned up to create a new copy of the file abd open the copy but that's a terrible approach.

That might work... It does not seem to reset options for the file you open though, be that directly or through mpvs history function, only when you go to the next file in the playlist. It's a half solution.
