vi editing mode

Support vi editing mode. This would be incredibly helpful for revising already typed commands without holding down arrow keys.

This is also a feature in both Claude Code and Gemini CLI.

Please just support opening in $EDITOR instead of embedding a vi mode, at least first...

I’ve implemented the “open in $EDITOR” workflow mentioned above and submitted it as a PR: #4147
It adds a /edit command and Ctrl+E shortcut to open the current prompt in your $EDITOR.
If this aligns with what others here are looking for, I’m happy to iterate based on feedback.

It's sad they simply closed the PR since they don't have enough capacity on reviewing them just cos it's a feature instead of bugfix... :(

@fcaraujo, if you'd like to see this feature, please upvote the feature request if you haven't already done so. We're steadily working our way through the feature backlog, and we're using community feedback (upvotes) to guide our priorities.
