Format variable for a previously used window?

Is there a way to obtain an index for a previously used window?

I haven't noticed a corresponding format variable, and therefore settled with something like this:

tmux last-window
W=$(tmux display -p '#{window_index}')
tmux last-window

But probably there's a better way? :)
