Accessing bookmarks - chrome.bookmarks is undefined

Hi all,
I'm trying to access chrome.bookmarks, but getting an undefined error. I've added "bookmarks" to the permissions in manifest.json:

This is the default BEX project that I've just created, so all I've done in functional code is try to log the bookmarks data:

Hmm. Weird. I've come back to it a few days later and it's working. I think maybe killing the process and re-starting it must have done something.

Browsers don't self update the extension on the fly when changing permissions, so it explains your experience.
