What does error "node returned no IP in version response" mean?

When I run

talosctl --nodes <node> dashboard

on one of my nodes, I get

node "<node>" returned no IP in version response

What does that error mean? I cannot find an explanation anywhere.

Do you have --endpoint set in your config or are you using Omni? If the node is already provisioned and part of a cluster you need to route to nodes via endpoints (similar to how kubectl works routing through the API server).

I pass --endpoint to the command. It is part of the cluster.

I'm not sure. If you can provide a way to reproduces the issue and open a github issue we'd be happy to look into it. Right now I don't have enough information to know what's going on.

That's understandable. I'll try making a reproducible example, but I am pessimistic about achieving that.

However, I can't even find such a message in the source code. Do you have any idea where it could come from?

Most likely one of the libraries talosctl depends on for network communication.
