Which Umbraco version are you using?

V17.0.0

Bug summary

Changing the LoginLogoImageAlternative changes login screen and backoffice logo in the header pop up as well

Specifics

Successfully followed the docs to apply a small icon to the login screen for small screens by adding ""LoginLogoImageAlternative": "../images/tiucl_logo_white.svg"" in appsettings.json Content section.

On logging in and checking the Umbraco version by clicking on the Umbraco logo at the top left of the screen, I noticed there was a blank area where the Umbraco logo should have been. On further inspection, I noted that the code for this section was:-

<umb-app-logo id="logo" logo-type="logo"><!----><img aria-hidden="true" alt="logo" src="https://localhost:44349/umbraco/management/api/v1/security/back-office/graphics/login-logo-alternative" loading="lazy"></umb-app-logo>

And it was actually displaying my alternative login svg, which was white on transparent background, hence appearing missing.

This meant that the logo set as the LoginLogoImageAlternative was being used in two places, which is not what was expected, and I guess/hope, not the design intent.

I'm always happy to show Umbraco branding once logged in, but insist on the client's branding on the login page.

Steps to reproduce

In appsettings.json Umbraco:CMS:Content section add a line:-

"LoginLogoImage": "../images/onepxtrans.gif, (a path to any small image).
"LoginLogoImageAlternative": "../images/tiucl_logo_white.svg", (a path to another small image).

Restart site.

On the login screen, note the original small Umbraco logo that would have been at the top left of the main image has been replaced with the image defined in "LoginLogoImage".

Reduce the screen size to a phone-sized screen. Note the main large image has now disappeared and the image defined in "LoginLogoImageAlternative" is displayed.

Bring the screen back up to full size and log in to Umbraco.

Click on the Umbraco logo to the left of the "Content" menu item in the header. Note the pop up now displays the image defined in "LoginLogoImageAlternative".

Expected result / actual result

I expected the login screen alternate image to be displayed when the login screen was reduced in size and the Umbraco logo to be displayed when logged in and the Umbraco logo is clicked on.

What happens is the alternate image is shown when the login screen is reduced in size but it also takes the place of the Umbraco logo in the pop up which appears when logged in and the Umbraco Logo is clicked on
