no parameter named 'auth_mechanism' in db.pp line 53

whenever attempting to create a user you get no parameter named 'auth_mechanism' in db.pp line 53 ( I have even hard-coded 'scram_sha_1' as the value and it still show this...is there some kind of issue with the puppet code ??
