Performance degradation (10–25%) during Uninstall, Modify, and Update operations in WiX 5 compared to WiX 3

Question

We’ve observed a consistent performance degradation when migrating our setup projects from WiX 3.x to WiX 5.x.
Specifically, the Uninstallation, Modification, and Update (major upgrade) actions take approximately 10–25% longer to complete with the WiX 5 builds compared to the same project built using WiX 3.

This degradation has been measured across multiple environments and setup types. @robmen Could you please help us here on how we can improve the performance?

Interesting. First, you should upgrade to WiX v6, as v5 will be out of service in just under 4 months. Then you can start by comparing verbose log files to see where the time is being lost.
