## Alerting

Test suite alerting lets you organize related tests into meaningful collections by user journey, service, environment, or team. This allows you to receive a single, consolidated alert when a critical portion of the suite fails, giving you a unified view of impact and helps you respond more efficiently when important workflows break.

With test suite alerting, you can:

- Mark each test in the suite as **Critical** or **Ignored** (all tests are marked Critical by default).
- Set a custom percentage threshold so alerts trigger only when a specified percentage of critical tests fail.

**Note**: By default, all tests are marked as critical and the alert triggers when any critical test fails.

### Create an alert on a new test suite

1. Datadog, navigate to **Digital Experience** and click **New Test Suite**.
2. Enter a name for your suite (for example, `Checkout flow` or `API health checks`).
3. Click **Add Tests** to include existing Synthetic Monitoring tests.
4. Configure test criticality by selecting the :
- By default, all added tests are set as critical.
- To exclude specific tests from triggering the suite-level alert, select them and mark them as **Ignored**.
5. Choose the alert threshold. By default, the alert triggers if any critical test fails, but you can define a specific percentage threshold.
6. Configure the monitor settings the same way you would for a single test.
7. Click **Save suite**.

### Create or adjust an alert on an existing test suite

Existing test suites come with a pre-configured alert:
- All tests set to critical
- The alert triggers when at least one critical test fails

To modify these settings or customize the notification behavior:

1. In the left-hand menu, hover over **Digital Experience** and select **Test Suite**.
2. Locate the Test Suite you want to configure.
3. Select the tests you want to mark as ignored and use Bulk edit to change them to **Ignored**.
4. Adjust the alert threshold in the Alert conditions section.
5. Update the monitor settings the same way you would for a single test.
