Non electrical Devices

Some devices in LFT don't require electrical power to operate. Primarily, this is meant to make it so that players disinclined to deploy a full technic power system still could benefit from technic's offers. Similarly, these devices make initial stages of deployment of technic equipment easier. These devices always work slower than their electric counterparts, but otherwise produce the same results.

Fuel-powered alloying furnace — the only such device present in mainstream technic. Uses combustible fuel to perform alloying.

Water-powered grinder — this device connects to a mesecon turbine and thus uses water flow to produce rotation of its grinding mechanism. To use this machine, the player must construct a mesecon turbine, place it so that it spins, and the put the grinder next to the turbine. This device is extremely helpful for new players since it allows to double the number of metal ingots the player obtains from mining.

Solar furnace — uses focused sunlight to heat up materials. Works only in full sunlight. While it cannot be made without technic (it requires composite plates), once assembled, it functions completely independently. Makes for a nice object for trade.
